Visionaries are difficult to come across. Dhiru J. Babaria, often known as DJ, has dreamt with open eyes. DJ Babaria has left his mark on various industries and established his presence across the global market.
Growing up in rural Gujarat, DJ Babaria's destined journey was set into motion after graduating with a B.E. in Mechanical Engineering from the Sardar-Patel University in Gujarat, India. After graduation and getting married, Mr. Babaria departed for the United States of America to further his education. Strapped for cash, he attended City College of New York, where he finished his M.S. in Mechanical Engineering in 1979. Upon graduation, he worked in various engineering fields for about 6 years.
While working, Mr. Babaria investigated potential markets for investment opportunities, finding his niche in 1984. Mr. Babaria dedicated his time to start a fairly small circuit board manufacturing company in Dallas, Texas. Within two years of establishing this plant, he accomplished to turn it into a state-of-the-art company. As growth came to the business in the late 80's and 90's, he acquired four other circuit board manufacturing companies, which were in financial turmoil. His expertise and skills lead him to enhance the productivity and quality of the manufacturing companies and converted the failing plants into revenue generators. Then soon after the new millennium, Mr. Babaria invested in an electronics contract manufacturer in electronics assembly, which vertically integrated all of the companies in order to fill more contracts at a lower cost.
Shortly thereafter, a fellow colleague with a passion for lasers approached Mr. Babaria for a business venture in India. Mr. Babaria recognized the potential of laser applications and invested. This company now employs about 200 employees and is a world leader in providing CNC fabrication and other custom laser solutions. The company's main buyers are renowned diamond companies that need their diamonds cut and etched. Orders have been topping about 800 CNC manufacturing machines per year. The company is set to IPO in the Indian stock market in the near future.
During the same time, Mr. Babaria invested into a financial institute to diversify his expertise. DJ took the initiative to invest in a multi-bank chain called the United Central Bank, which operates 17 banks from coast-to-coast. As he gained expertise in the financial sector he acquired a bank, the First State Bank of Texas, in Lubbock, Texas.
Currently, Mr. Babaria is focusing on the eminent "Green Revolution." After noticing the potential environmentally friendly technologies, DJ involved himself with major projects such as a green casino-resort called The Spanish Bit in Jackpot, Nevada. To appeal to the average traveler, Mr. Babaria also invested in EcoStay, a hotel chain that is completely green from the ground-up. Mr. Babaria is also gearing up to dive into the renewable energy implemented by using solar, bio-fuels, wind, and hybrid systems.
After years of experience and dedication, DJ Babaria is ready to act as a mentor and friend to the new generation of Babarias, who will follow his lead and commitment to bringing quality products and services to the public. His two sons, Ghanshyam and Rajan are paving the way to live the dream.
